Dover, Pa. evolves, Kansas doesn’t

Posted in Society at 8:32 by RjZ

“Eight school board members in Dover, Pa., who backed “intelligent design” were ousted by voters Tuesday.” Meanwhile, Kansas will require students to study “doubts about modern Darwinian theory.”

If Kansas students were only required to be skeptical of Darwin that might be great news. The reality is that they will not be shown how to be skeptical but rather educated about the doubts of “irreducible complexity” raised by Dr. Michael Behe which give the unfounded impression that questions about evolution theory are insurmountable.

The trial in Dover, Pa. continues however, even while the people of that town have tossed out all of the school board members who started it!

I doubt this debate is over but while I am heartened by the political process Dover, I’d hate to give up on Kansas. I am sure there are at least a few rational people there!

There are, and it is very, very likely that Kansas’ Board of Ed elections (Primary: March 2006; General: November 2006) will turn the cretins out just like they did in Dover. There are strong challengers to creationist incumbents in both the primary and the general now in three of the four races involving creationists; another challenger, to the fourth creationist incumbent, is expected to announce soon.

And polls are trending very, very poorly for these losers. In addition to the evolution lunacy, there are a couple of other local issues that Kansans are generally really pissed off about that all the creationist incumbents have managed to put themselves on the wrong side of.

Freaky, though–I know all the people (except Pres. Bush, of course) quoted in this article. Jack Krebs is a nice guy, and Steve Abrams knows what’s coming, as he was the only creationist to be re-elected after the 1999 evolution debacle.

Buh-bye, Dover Dodos, and don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.

Would that then mean that there is no chance of having flying spaghetti monsterism taught in science class? Aren’t there any pro-flying spaghetti moster candidates? Screw ID. Just evolution and FSM, that’s all I ask.

    Aw shucks,
